GLOBAL COMMODITY PROCUREMENT LEAD
REMOTE OR HYBRID, WASHINGTON, D.C. | FULL-TIME
ADDITIONAL GLOBAL TRAVEL
The Global Commodity Procurement Lead is OES's lead for strategic sourcing and competitive procurement and of therapeutic and nutrition commodities, principally Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF), with Multiple Micronutrient Supplements (MMS) and related products as OES's commodity scope grows. The role owns OES's sourcing strategy, designs and runs its global competitive solicitations, builds and manages the supplier relationships that determine price and reliability, leads the procurement evaluation process, coordinating technical, quality, compliance, and commercial inputs across OES teams, and oversees the international freight, importation, and customs clearance processes.
OES focuses on cost-effective procurement in a domain where the margin for error is measured in stockouts and spoiled product, not missed deadlines. The role is OES's procurement expert on translating quality standards, Incoterms, packaging and labeling requirements, and country-specific import considerations, and other cross-functional requirements into tender documents that are clear, competitive, and defensible under audit. That expertise has to be paired with genuine collaboration. This role operates within OES’s procurement policies and compliance framework, partnering closely with the Contracts, Grants, and Compliance team to structure solicitations that meet federal and donor requirements, and with OES's Food Safety and QA Consultant and quality assurance function to ensure that every tender, every supplier dossier, and every shipment reflects OES's quality standards throughout the chain.
This is a founding, senior-level position on a small, start-up supply chain team. The Director, Global Supply Chain is coordinating simultaneously across commodity sourcing, procurement, logistics, and quality assurance, and needs a procurement lead who can build sourcing strategy and run competitive processes independently — someone who is creative under market and timeline pressure, comfortable owning ambiguous problems without a playbook, and agile enough to move at the pace OES's launch timelines demand.
This position reports to the Director, Global Supply Chain, and works in close collaboration with the Global Logistics Lead, OES's quality assurance function and Food Safety and QA Consultant, the team managing contracts, grants, and compliance, OES's partners, importation and customs brokers, and third-party inspectors.
