CHIEF OF GOVERNMENT RELATIONS & PUBLIC AFFAIRS
WASHINGTON, D.C. | FULL-TIME | IN-PERSON
ADDITIONAL DOMESTIC AND GLOBAL TRAVEL
The Chief of Government Relations & Public Affairs will build and lead OES’s global government relations, advocacy, communications, and public affairs functions, playing a pivotal role in advancing the organization’s mission to end child deaths from malnutrition. Reporting directly to the CEO, this executive will lead high-level engagement with senior government officials and global decision-makers, shape OES’s government relations strategy worldwide, and oversee major public awareness initiatives that elevate the urgency of the crisis and highlight cost-effective solutions. This is a unique opportunity to build and lead a growing global team, influence consequential policy and funding decisions, and establish OES as a leading voice in driving meaningful, lasting global impact.
This is a strategic, highly hands-on role. The Chief will personally build and maintain relationships across the U.S. Administration, Congress, foreign governments, NGOs, think tanks, foundations, and the broader global health, foreign assistance, and policy community, while establishing the stakeholder strategies, operating rhythms, and follow-through required to convert those relationships into meaningful institutional support. The Chief will bring discipline and focus to OES’s external engagement, prioritizing the relationships and opportunities most likely to advance OES’s programmatic, policy, and public-funding objectives.
Working closely with the CEO and senior leadership, the Chief will help position OES for effective engagement at the highest levels of government. The Chief will advise the CEO on where senior-level engagement can have the greatest strategic value, prepare the CEO and other leaders for consequential external engagements, and independently build and sustain the broader relationships necessary to advance OES’s priorities. The Chief will work closely with Global Programs, Development, and other teams to translate OES’s evidence, impact, and funding priorities into compelling policy propositions and coordinated government engagement. As OES continues to grow, the Chief will build and lead a high-performing global team spanning government relations, advocacy, government funding, communications, and public affairs. This executive will also establish and oversee OES’s communications and public affairs strategy, including high-impact campaigns that bring international attention to the crisis of child deaths from malnutrition, highlight cost-effective solutions, and strengthen OES’s visibility, credibility, and influence with governments, partners, and the public.
